My Route

In this section, you can see my weekly road plan, as well as the route already covered.

Day 1

The first day has been very long, driving 710 km on the highway from 9 to 6 in the evening.
Leaving home, near Munich and arriving in the near from Hamburg, today's goal was to get as far north as possible in order to board the ferry on Sunday, May 28 at 6:15 p.m., which means to be there at 17:30
Despite being super boring driving on the motorway has given me some super friendly pictures of the fields around Barendorf.

Details:

  • Km 730

  • Gasoline- 69,39 € Germany

  • Dinner- 17€

  • Air BnB - 33,87 €

Day 2

The second day has not been much different from the first, driving for 572 Kilometers to the Danish coast in Hirtshals, here I met a group of Spanish bikers/motorcyclists heading towards the NordKapp. Motorcycles are always a good reason to make new friends.

As soon as I arrive in Norway in Kristiansand I say goodbye to my new friends to head towards my first adventure in Norwegian lands and to be able to do free camping - I remind you that in Norway, Finland, and Sweden free camping is allowed following some rules -

Details:

  • Km 572

  • Ferry 97€

  • Gasoline 39,49 € Denmark and German

Day 3

On the 3rd I set off towards the Kjerag Bolten, a stone in the Norwegian mountains that is suspended at 1000 meters high and supported by two mountains, everything is going in an extraordinary way, I even find new friends this time a battlement that came from going around Germany a week ago.

The first impact with the Fjords was extraordinary, dreamlike landscapes with crystalline waters, but the second impact literally left me frozen, as soon as I exceeded 500 meters in height I ran into snow and when I reached 800 I began to drive through such narrow streets it did not pass a car and a motorcycle, also with 4-meter-high side walls completely made of snow...

These temperature changes lead me to change my plans and not visit the mountains as planned from the beginning.

Details:

  • Km 369

  • Breakfast Croissant Coffe and Watter 8,12€

  • Gasoline 32€

  • Free Camping

Day 4

Day 4 starts a little better, due to the cold I had the day before I decided to sleep in a cabin but despite that I spent a lousy night, only vomiting and with a headache, I hardly slept.

The day started sunny and looking better than the previous one, so I set off towards Odda, but this time I ruled out the possibility of going up Trolltunga because I saw that the snow was heavy in the mountains and I would have needed a guide to continue. Because the day turned in my favor I was able to visit several Latefossen waterfalls and several more, besides sleeping in a campsite, it is not free but fantastic anyway.

Details:

  • km 235

  • Gasoline €11.66

  • Bread and Salami Supermarket €7.66

  • Paracetamol and Blistex €9.26

  • Campsite €12.66

Day 5

With the bad experience with the cold the day before, I decided to start a trip more prepared for rain, snow and cold. This time but it starts the day in a good way with sun all around and dry all around. The bad thing is that it was just an illusion, as soon as I reached the mountains the cold came again and the glaciers in the mountains gave me the impression of continuing on the road without destination.
On this day, visit the famous Geirange and Trollstiegen mountain passes, unfortunately full of snow and rain which completely prevented me from taking the necessary photos as I would have wanted. However, the fun was very good, with wide roads that were good to drive despite the snow. Upon arriving at my camp, unfortunately, I was led to the bad news that the GoPro had damaged the sd card and all the video images of the last 2 days had been lost. @%&§$#*
Details:

  • km 313

  • Gasoline €29.24

  • Camping / Cabin €66

  • Geiranger toll 7.59

Day 6

Like every day in Norway I wake up with a beautiful sun but knowing that the rain will not be long in coming, so I head towards the Atlantic Road, one of the most famous roads in the world since it is a road built in the middle of the Atlantic that joins a few islands, not to say just rocks, with the mainland. This road is so impressive because it does not affect the landscape of its islands, it is simply like a thread that unites the rocks in the ocean with the mainland. It is important to emphasize that this highway has already withstood 2 hurricanes since its construction in 1989.

This day I decided to sleep in an AirBnB since after so much rain a dry place served me, in this place I had my first culture shock with the people of Norway when I realized that houses in Norway are never locked.

I just entered the house and there was a note on it telling me which room is mine. After a while, about 20 minutes after being in the house, an approximately 60-year-old lady who was the owner came out and welcomed me.

Details:

  • km 414

  • Atlantic highway approximately 9 km

  • Gasoline €38.55

  • AirBnB €43

  • Shopping for lunch (bread, pasta, tea and water) €12.86

Day 7

Exactly, after a week of travel I woke up in great spirits, because the night had been fantastic, since I was able to sleep very comfortably, dry all the clothes that had gotten wet and also eat as it should, with a good dinner the night before and A good breakfast. So I calmly set off at 9:30 in the morning with the hope of being able to sleep somewhere between Trondheim and Bodo obviously in wild camping - I repeat the spirits were very high - so I set off with the motorcycle , but after 30 km the rain starts again, I'm not worried, since I have to get on a ferry in a few km and I can pass the rain. The problem was that I took the wrong Ferry, so the calm day that I imagined suddenly changes. Since I took the wrong ferry, I have to do more km by road in the non-stop drizzle, but spirits were still high. So I stop to eat just getting off the ferry with wonderful landscapes that encourage me even more to sleep in free camping, so I continue towards Tjotta and take the second ferry. When I got off the ferry it was 7 at night and it wasn't raining so I decided to camp on a shore facing the sea, because the landscape was beautiful. My big mistake was not looking at time, which was already coming. At the time of setting up the tent, the wind was very strong and the clouds were very black. That night it rained a lot and luckily I spent the night dry, but all the things were stored on my motorcycle and I didn't know if the rain covers would resist the heavy rain or not....

  • Gasolin3  36,55€
